In-Home Studio Newborn Photoshoot in Doncaster: Joseph

Updated: May 1

I was delighted when parents Rob and Jenny chose me to take their first professional photos of their son Joseph. Their decision to invest in newborn photos was last minute - Rob got in touch a few days after Joseph was born. But luckily I'd had another baby arrive later than expected, so was able to offer them a session.

On the day of the session I set up my 'mini studio' in Rob and Jenny's spare bedroom. I think they were surprised at how little space I actually needed. It was an overcast day so I chose to use some additional lighting to ensure their images would be of suitably high quality.

Joseph was 12 days old on the day of his newborn session and hungry! We needed several breaks so he could fill up his tummy - but as I had allocated my entire day to him and his family this was no trouble at all, he was free to take his time. In between snacks he was a dream to photograph, drifting off peacefully for the sleepy, curled up images Rob and Jenny were hoping for.

I know that Rob and Jenny are not fans of having their photos taken - but they soon relaxed into the session and were even happy to try a few of my newer posing ideas. They told me that as well as getting images to help them remember how Joseph was when he was tiny, they also wanted images that would capture them as a new family and some of the emotions they were feeling around Joseph's arrival. I was so happy with how their final gallery turned out, and I can really feel their joy and love for their little boy shine through in the images of the three of them together.

Rob and Jenny now have some beautiful memories of just how tiny Joseph was when he was brand new, and I hope they remember how they felt when they look back at their images in the future. They decided to invest in 'Package 1' after their session, which included a beautiful 8x8 album to showcase their favourite images. They went for the baby blue leatherette with silver embossed text on the cover - which I thought was a very fine combination. Scroll down to see more of Joseph's session.

Over to Rob to let you know what he and Jenny thought of their experience:

"Sally was able to conduct a photoshoot of our newborn son at short notice. The shoot was brilliantly planned beforehand and Sally suggested shots we'd never have thought of, that in the end looked amazing! Sally was very patient when photographing our son and after the shoot concluded was very responsive to our questions and kept us up-to-date with the progress of our edited photos and the album we ended up purchasing. A very attentive and understanding photographer with a great eye for detail. I wouldn't hesitate in hiring Sally again in the future".
